Memory issues

Hey all,
I recently added multiple images to my /public folder, and placed them throughout my Next application (banner/ carousel/ one off images on pages)
After adding the images, I started to notice my laptop getting very hot and the compile time starting to get very long.
After checking my Activity Monitor/Task Manager, I noticed that the memory usage of my app starts to scale up to upwards of 12+ gb and never comes down leading to these issues. I have checked out the https://nextjs.org/docs/app/guides/memory-usage guide but I am having trouble pin pointing the issue, and even if the issue is my images at all.
Was looking for some advice on how to troubleshoot, potential issues that may be causing this, or any other insights you may have. Can provide more details if required.
Do note I am new to web dev.

NextJs, Mantine, Typescript, Sharp (images)
