Yo,

I am looking for suggestions on the best authentication options out there that is also free or cheap.

I heard about Clerk. But I'm afraid of its pricing and the vendor lock in.

I don't mind diving into a particular authentication system and learn what is necessary. Provided the documentation is good or at least there's a good course on it somewhere.
