best way to handle authentication?

So I've been trying to decide which authentication solution is best for my SAAS and so far, I've seen a few, most noteable ones being supabase auth and clerk, but I did hear that clerk has very VERY shady pricing so I'm very skeptical.
I just want something relatively easy to implement and powerful with it's starter plan.
What do you recommend and I'd really appreciate it if you threw in some authentication best practices for production scale projects from your experience!

what do you mean by shady pricing? you can go to their pricing page and check all the details by yourself. you need to check what these services are offering and if it makes sense for your product, then you can pick whichever you think is worth your money. I haven't used Supabase yet but I heard good things about their other products. I use Clerk for a project of mine and it is great to get things running quick

there are a lot of options with varying degrees of features vs pricing. You didnt specify which kind of SaaS you are building or what kind of features you want to support.
I have been using Stytch and it's been great so far, mayb worth a look to see if it'll help with your use case.
